Courses Available

Key Stage 3- At Key Stage 3 we offer students a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at enhancing students underpinning skills and qualities of the PE national curriculum.

Key Stage 4 – At Key Stage 4 all students study a BTEC Sport First Award Certificate qualification (1 GCSE). Alongside this, students can opt for a GCSE in Physical Education. Supporting the exam qualification is the Skills and Tactics course which can be taken as an enrichment course.

Key Stage 5 – At Key Stage 5 students can opt to take a BTEC National Diploma in Sport award. There is also the opportunity for students to enrol on a Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA).

Structure of the timetable across the key stages

Core PE

KS3- 2 hours practical PE.

KS4 – Year 10/11 One hour PE a week.

Options
KS4– Year 10/11 can choose GCSE PE which consists of five lessons a week of PE including 3 theoretical and 2 practical sessions.

KS5 – BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma, followed by Diploma in Sport both these options provide 10 hours of curriculum learning time.

The ethos is of maximum participation enabling all to achieve their potential.
